Errata

Points out errors contained in the book "e-Start Your Web Store with Zen Cart". If you spot a mistake in the book, do let us know by contacting us.

• Pg 31, the following statement "Generally, Unix/Linux mail servers support the sendmail method; whereas Windows-based mail servers support the smtp method" should not appear here as it refers to the E-Mail Transport Method field on pg 73.

• Pg 33, the statement "... Zen Cart only works with MySQL version 4.x, ... " should be written as "... Zen Cart officially works with MySQL version 4.x, ..." instead.

• Pg 34, Step 2, you are strongly advised to install XAMPP into a directory without spaces or periods in the directory path. For example, install into "C:\server\xampp" instead of "C:\Program Files\My.Directory\xampp". This is necessary to avoid possible problems running XAMPP on certain configurations of Windows XP.

• Pg 58, Step 4, remove the duplicate "she" and extra word "done" from the statement "... if she she has not done logged in to her account.".

• Pg 75, 6th row in table, remove the duplicate "Emails" from the Send Copy of Tell a Friend Emails Emails To field.

• Pg 76, last 2 rows in table, remove the word "Extra" from the Send Extra Low Stock Emails and Send Extra Low Stock Emails To fields.

• Pg 86, last row in table, "United Kingdom" is wrongly spelt as "United Kingdowm".
  

• Pg 88, Step 4, "... the United States uses "TX" to represent a state." should be written as "... the United States uses "TX" to represent the state of Texas in that country." instead.

• Pg 95, "You contact information" should be "Your contact information" instead.

• Pg 99, ignore the first two rows in the table as they are the same as the first two rows in the table on pg 98.
  

• Pg 128-129, there are two mistakes in the three examples given. The first mistake relates to the discrepancy in the number of zeros between that to be specified in the Shipping Table field (i.e. 10000) and the actual number of zeros shown in the examples (i.e. 1000). You can delete a zero from the Shipping Table field value for consistency with the example. The second mistake relates to the display of the inequality sign. For instance, in Example 1, instead of 25 lbs > x ≥ 50 lbs and 50 lbs > x ≥ 1000 lbs, it should be written as 25 lbs < x ≤ 50 lbs and 50 lbs < x ≤ 1000 lbs respectively. Thus, you should make corresponding changes to Example 2 and Example 3.

• Pg 163, second last paragraph, some of the words should be struck off are as follows "... (Product-Free Shipping) unless they are downloadable goods because ..."
  

• Pg 168, if you set the Product Priced by Attributes option to Yes, your product price should be set to $0.00 and your attribute prices should be set to $1000.00, $1100.00, and $1200.00 respectively in order to achieve a similar output as shown in the book.
  

• Pg 179, 1st line of the page should read as "... when you starting adding products to your store" with the erroneous "ing" struck out .

• Pg 200, near the middle of the page, "... click on Configuration > Option Name Manager ..." should be "... click on Catalog > Option Name Manager ..." instead.
  

• Pg 212, first para next to "Always Free Shipping" in the table is wrong. Instead, the text should read: "Set to No, Normal Shipping Rules if your product is offered purely as downloadable file. Zen Cart automatically skips the Shipping Information page if all items in a customer's shopping cart are downloadable files.".

• Pg 214, 2nd bulleted point, the value Selectbox should be replaced with the value Dropdown instead.

• Pg 244, near the middle of the page, "... click on Configuration > Layout Boxes Controller and edit ..." should be "... click on Tools > Layout Boxes Controller and edit ..." instead.

• Pg 258, 2nd paragraph should read as "To turn edit the template text ..." with the extra word "turn" struck out.

• Pg 261, lines 1 and 2 under EZ-Pages section, should be written as "... no need to manually edit, create or edit any files. Instead the contents of all EZ-Pages are stored in the database. It boasts the following features...".
  

• Pg 262, 1st point, "Click on Configuration > Layout Controller Boxes ..." should be "Click on Tools > Layout Boxes Controller ..." instead.

• Pg 266, line 6, to configure when the Shopping Cart side-box should appear, "Click on Configuration > My Store to ..." should be "Click on Configuration > Layout Settings to ..." instead.

• Pg 274, after point 4.2, you may not see any side-boxes in your Store Front after switching templates. If that is the case, go into your Admin Console again and click on Tools > Layout Boxes Controller and then click the reset button at the bottom of the screen.
  

• Pg 275, point 3, first code listing. There is a missing "0" in the background color. It should read as "#000000" instead of "#00000".

• Pg 276, point 1 on bottom section of the page. The affected directory should be "includes/languages/english/html_includes" instead of "includes/languages/html_includes". This applies similarly for the override directory.

• Pg 326, 4th point, last paragraph. Change the value of the following sentence accordingly. "However, you might choose to set this value to true false if it becomes impractical ...".

• Pg 389, all values under the "Username" column of the Table C-1 should not include the domain names. For example, alan@example.com should show alan instead.
